announcement :: project tedium
first june week :: new project
codename :: project tedium
real name :: released as soon as i think of a blog name that's not taken
rationale :: experimentation in group blogging
participation :: mandatory if you have a google account
project details :: in the vein of my recent entry,boring log [post-sneeze], i want a collection of very simple blog entries articulating how you opened a door, switched off a light, turned your stereo down or opened your yogurt carton.
blogs are criticized for their mundane-ness. i want to take this to an absurd level.
this weekend you will be invited to join the blog.

i adore adam west
i adore adam west.
playing the TV loud to annoy my neighbors, i learned batman was on during lunch.
the joker called "lucky pierre" the best--and luckiest--criminal attorney... after batman verified the number was local.
later adam west remarked it's not often a bachelor like himself gets a delicious homecooked meal--then excused himself as a bachelor and spinster ought not be alone unchaperoned. of course, his real motivation was the bat signal.
let's not forget the bat fly swatter--used since the bat bug bomb was in the bat mobile--to kill an algerian fruit fly infected with sleeping sickness

sorry earth
today the recyclers rejected our recycling.
their note included 10 possible reasons... but none of them applied to my trash.
so i dumped the recycling in the regular garbage.
sorry earth.
it's not your fault.
i also chased a cat down my front steps waving a shoe.
you just picked the wrong day to cross me.

my time feeding milk goo to native birds is over.
i can now identify many birds by their call and colo*ring.
sadly, they all have populations of 1,000 or less... so this info will be of little practical value.

electronic renaissance
the next few weeks will be an electronic renaissance.
new projects are almost ready to be announced.
--which is why i also want to examine this blog.
i write blogs because i like the komments. i generally consider my friends ["major fan base"] to be creative and intelligent, or at least interesting. it's fun to hear from you.
so...
what sort of postings do you like to komment on?
why don't you komment?
what would encourage you to komment?
my goal [not always achieved] is to have new posts most work days. i know consistent posts are important and i've averaged 21.25 posts/month since NZ.
please add to the discussion [anonymous komments accepted] and take the poll [to the left] about the posts you like and don't care for.
i'm not going to pander, but if everyone seems to hate certain posts [food posts] i'll stop.... after just one more....

first :: stood up
today i was stood up for the first time. ever.
no email.
no text.
no call.
everything worked out since i had a book [amber spyglass]. quite enjoyed the unexpected time to myself.
but since my one friend has now become unreliable, it may be time for a second. i emailed a hammock importer i met at a party my plans for how he can bodyslam an elephant:

weighting and waiting
WEIGHTING
at the bird sanctuary, i met a lady weighing each bird and how much sugar water they drink. most birds drink the exact same amount each time they drink. some are sippers. others gulp. but the bird always drinks the same amount. i also realized today i'm an arm's length away from many birds with a worldwide population of 1,000 or less.
WAITING
at the bus stop, i cornered a local improver i watched perform last night. he was waiting for the bus--where could he go. he thought i was a creepy fan, until i mentioned my improv past. then he just thought i was creepy. but his mood changed. can hardly wait to awkwardly run into him again soon.

giving back :: check
one month after arriving, i submitted an application to volunteer at karori [sanctuary for native flora/fauna]
two weeks ago, i was asked to be a guide, but training starts after my return [august XX] to the states.
in the mean time, i have received monthly volunteer newsletters and invitations to karori parties.
three days ago, i got an emergency call to fill in for "bill" the next two weeks. thinking about all the postage they have spent on me i had to say yes.
every even day for the next fortnight, i spend four hours delivering wombaroo [milk goo] to four feeders spread around the massive center. i monitor birds with tags. i can identify 4 different birds by their call.... and i leave muddy... very, very muddy...
